What is Neuromuscular Re-Education?
Muscle activation, movement patterns, and balance among other things are affected when nerves or muscles experience damage or injury. If the proper movements, techniques, activities, and exercises are not performed on an injured body part, an acute injury can develop into a chronic problem.
The goal of Neuromuscular Re-education is to restore normal function of nerves and muscles by training (or re-training) muscles, brain, and nerves to communicate more efficiently.
Neuromuscular Re-education activities may include, but are not limited to motor activation techniques, electrical stimulation with balance or motor activation, balance activities, coordination activities, body awareness exercises, postural training, breathing, and imagery.
